Project Description

TOUR OVERVIEW

Bulgaria – 6 days

Bulgaria is history captured in stone!

Bulgaria is famous for its rose oil production providing 85% of the world’s rose oil, mainly used for perfume essences but for other purposes as well.

The Valley of Roses is situated in the Thracian Valley, also called Valley of Thracian Kings, just south of the Balkan Mountains. Each year, festivals are held celebrating the picking of roses and the production of the rose oil. During the picking season, the area gives off a pleasant scent and is covered with multi-coloured flowers. The gathering process requires great dexterity and patience.

The flowers are carefully cut one by one and laid in willow-baskets which are then sent to the distilleries. You are welcome to join the Festival of the Rose and be part of the process of rose picking which take place yearly.
